Heart of the Country is proud to announce their partnership with The Royal British Legion on this centenary year of the Armistice with the launch of a limited edition scented sachet. This Autumn/Winter season Heart of the Country is looking to raise £36,500 for the Legion by selling 36,500 Greenleaf Painted Poppy large scented sachets. The target of 36,500 represents every single day that has passed since the end of the Great War on the 11th of November 1918.
The Royal British Legion
The Legion was founded by veterans after the First World War. A century on from the start of that conflict, we’re still helping today’s Service men and women, veterans, and their families in almost every aspect of daily life. We also champion Remembrance, safeguarding the memory of those who have given their lives for our freedom through Remembrance education and events.
The Royal British Legion Quote
“We’re delighted to have partnered with Heart of the Country and Greenleaf on the Painted Poppy Scented Sachet. The funds raised from the sale of these sachets will ensure we can continue our vital work providing through-life support to the Armed Forces Community. This year is particularly important to us as we mark the end of the First World War and lead a national movement to say thank you to the entire generation who lived through the war, served, sacrificed and changed our world. We are so grateful for every moment of support.”
Ben France, Head of Corporate Partnerships, The Royal British Legion.
The Heart of the Country Quotes
“This year will be the 100th anniversary of the end of The First World War, so many of us including Toby and I have great grandparents and great uncles who fought died or survived and families that gave everything in the Great War, we owe them everything we have today and they should never be forgotten.”
Ben Stubbs, Director, Heart of the Country
“Ben and I are very proud to have great grandparents who served and fought in the First World War. One of our great grandparents was John Reginald Cassidy who was born in Australia in 1892, whilst studying on a scholarship at Oxford University in 1913 war interrupted his studies and he joined the Army Service Corps, he went on to fight in many battles including Gallipoli. Family legend goes that Reg, a decorated swimmer was chosen to remain at Gallipoli to keep the candles burning during the evacuation to conceal the withdrawal of the Allies. He was one of the very last to leave by swimming to a rescue boat on the 9th of January 1916. Reg continued his military career throughout his life eventually achieving the position of Acting Air Vice Marshall and being awarded a C.B.E.”
